Sanitizing Your Food Naturally

Some of you may know that from time to time I teach traditional organic cooking which includes foods of the season, raw dishes and food selections that include using the Young Living Essential Oils.

One of the things that I faithfully do is properly sanitize my food with the Young Living Essential oils before cooking with them. Here is what I do.

Lettuce and Greens: If there is dirt on the fruit and vegetables, wash this off first. Then put two drops of Young Living Essential Oils in a pan of water. Swish around the lettuce and let sit for about 8 minutes. Spin or shake the greens and prepare.

Root Vegetables: Remove all dirt and rinse well. Place 2 or 3 drops of oil in cold water. Be sure roots are covered with water.  Let sit for 8 to 10 minutes.  Swish them around, remove and prepare.

Fish: Finely cut fish does not do well sitting in water. Swish the fish around in cold water with Essential oils and blot. Prepare. Fish steaks can sit in water for about 5 minutes or so, then swish in the cold water, blot, and prepare.

Red Meat and Game: Rinse the meat well in cold water. Place the meat in a container large enough that the water covers the meat fully. Add about 3 to 4 drops of oil, depending on the amount of meat. Let sit between 15 to 20 minutes. Remove, blot, and prepare.

Any of the following oils can be used to sanitize:
Grapefruit
Lemon
Citrus Fresh
Tangerine
Orange

These are good choices because some of the other Young Living Oils are strong and will effect the flavor. The citrus oils do not change the taste, in fact they enhance flavors.
